Michael Di Girolamo is the Founder and Managing Partner of Hey Wonderful, a production company established in 2016 which celebrates a culture of diverse voices, collaboration and innovative storytelling. Hey Wonderful has been recognized for excellence and innovation in its work by Adweek, AdAge A-List, Tribeca X, Cannes Lions, The One Show, Ciclope and more. Hey Wonderful’s emerging Queer and Trans talent in commercials includes award-winning filmmakers Emily McDonald (Vogue “Looking Back with Pride”) and River Gallo (Ponyboi). Michael says, “As a gay man and founder of Hey Wonderful, boosting the visibility of Queer and Trans talent is an important goal of ours because work still needs to be done to achieve equitable representation in commercials and advertising.” In a career that spans 25 years and two coasts, Michael brings a wealth of experience in commercial production having successfully managed the careers of some of advertising and entertainment’s most prolific directors. He served as Chairman of the 22nd AICP Show & Next Awards in 2013, was a jury head at the Ciclope Festival in Berlin in 2014, a mentor for two years for ADCAN – the awards initiative celebrating individuals and organizations using creativity as a force for good, and led a panel at AICP's "Diversity in Production" program during the 2018 MoMA Show.Highlights of Hey Wonderful’s work include the Webby-winning hidden-camera commercial, “Blind Taste Test” for Liquid Death directed by Sam Cadman; Nat Geo’s award-winning branded short “Musician,” inspired by Albert Einstein for the “10 Days of Genius Film Festival” and Instagram’s #Pride2018 campaign, both directed by Sam Spiegel; Facebook’s aspirational #HopefulFor docu social campaign and Doritos + Rock the Vote “No Choice,” a Cannes Lion-winning experiential, both directed by Peking; and Nike’s ‘’Better for It” Women’s campaign and first-ever YouTube series directed by Tricia Brock, also honored by Cannes Lions. A New York native, Michael has held pivotal positions heading sales and executive producing at industry leading commercial production companies including Anonymous Content, where he worked directly with Steve Golin for a decade, RSA Films, Partizan and Propaganda Films. He was also a founding partner of Station Film. He is a member of the DGA and LGBTQ+ Committee, a member of the Television Academy, the Board of Governors for the AICP Show, and finally, a member of the Los Angeles LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce.
