Veterans Claims Examiner 0996• Duties include reviewing provided documentation and Veteran Administration records in order to determine eligibility leading to entitlement and amount of educational benefits under Chapters 30, 32, 1606, and 1607, with special emphasis on Chapter 33. This includes developing facts and obtaining the necessary documentation and additional evidence to support decisions.• Provides analysis of Chapter 33 issues for veterans, dependents, and school officials. Adjudication of original and supplemental awards in areas of accrued benefits, concurrent enrollments, terminations, disallowances, program changes, special payments and retroactive awards for Chapter 33.• Prepares decisions on eligibility of claimants to various benefits provided by law, requiring a comprehensive knowledge of the laws, regulations, and precedents. Signatory authority to approve, to stop, suspend, audit, amend, and resume payments to approved VA schools, veterans, and dependents.
