I currently oversee the Digital Image Correlation lab at the Research building. The lab focuses on durability testing, but also develops new tests to better understand the fundamental mechanics of tires. I also work on several global innovation projects looking at various new technologies that can be implemented into tires. Principal Investigator for new airless tire architecture project.

I am working in the area of Tire Vehicle Mechanics with a focus on non-destructive measurement techniques to fully understand all aspects of the tire life cycle. I manage all non-destructive global experimental efforts for the Life Cycle Mechanics group relating mechanics principals to the structural response of tires, composites, and rubber using various types of equipment such as Static and high speed Digital Image Correlation (ARAMIS/GOM) which allows analysis of 3D surface strains, displacements, and profiles. I also utilize GFM MikroCAD 3D, Displacement Lasers, and Capacitive Sensors for surface measurements of roads, tires, etc… globally for NASCAR, ALMS, Manufacturing equipment, and Goodyear Proving Grounds. I have been a Principal Investigator of a major advanced concept project to further the fundamental understanding of tire life and process technology. I am a key member of advanced concept engineering teams looking into durability, design, and development of new tire lines to help expand Goodyear’s global reach as a leader in tire technology and innovation.

Working on Advanced Concept projects to help further the fundamental and applied knowledge for future tire applications. Have working knowledge of Surface Characterization, Digital Image Correlation (Static & High Speed) using ARAMIS software, and Experimental design which is utilized daily to accomplish project goals in an efficient and timely manner.

Global Engineering and Manufacturing Technology (GE&MT) is a global group within Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company that supports manufacturing plants worldwide via technology upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, and general support. GE&MT - Mixing group is solely responsible for supporting Goodyear plants globally with their mix lines. This includes trouble shooting mechanical issues with machines and upgrading to the newest most advanced technology to ensure efficient production around the world. I have gained experience qualifying bid requests, proposal submission for part purchases, and requisition writing for purchase order creation as well as design FMEA. Lead mechanical installation of two mixer lines in North America tire plants. Worked with vendors to ensure machine design is up to date and applicable per each individual job. Improved time management skills on a small and large scale working on projects that are multiple years in length with multi-million dollar budgets. Worked to better understand automation related to mixing line components such as, conveyor systems, oil scale systems, dust collection, and pumps for lubrication. Also, worked to trouble shoot lubrication and heat transfer abilities of sealing rings required for large variable speed powered shafts. Helped construct Engineering Release documentation to ensure proper documents are available for project installation teams and contractors.

I worked in research area dealing mainly with the Life Cycle Mechanics of a tire. This includes all physical interactions the finished product would experience. Apply experimental design skills to modify optical equipment to monitor and characterize various surfaces (Asphalt, Concrete, Race Tracks, etc...). Developed standard testing procedures for optical and physical surface measuring technology required for surface characterization. Study surface topography and surface morphology with respect to time on various surfaces across the nation. Assist Goodyear Race team's study of tire/race track interactions during NASCAR races. Helped analyze and test new designs for Lunar Tire project in conjunction with NASA. Investigate physical interaction between tires and wet surfaces using various optical techniques. Use Digital Image Correlation (DIC) to conduct various tire tests to help establish stress/strain parameters for 3D modeling efforts. Design new non-destructive experimental methodology to more accurately understand the tire as a dynamic engineering structure.

Conducted experiments and collected data for Research Engineers. Designed many fixtures to help perform and optimize various tests. Wrote standardize programs for testing tires in TestWorks 4. A new test was developed and implemented of my design. Gained experience with ABAQUS CAE, modeling and analyzing different problems. Gained experience with servo pneumatic and servo hydraulic machinery utilized for testing rubber, composites and the entire tire as a system.

Assist full-time engineers with everyday tasks. Familiar with PPAP procedures and APQP files for automotive industry applications. Conduct gauge RR and gauge cape studies. Written several gauge instructions for many different parts. Have experience with general CMM operation.
