As an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, Michaele provides trauma-informed, culturally sensitive therapy to individuals in California. How it started: Michaele began her career in healthcare investment banking, where she gained business acumen and technical skills to employ in the community development field. She has dedicated her career to advocating for and investing in communities that have been historically neglected. For eight years, at PCDC, Michaele underwrote investments that ultimately improved access & quality of care, created jobs, and supported frontline healthcare workers around the country.How it’s going: Desiring a more direct impact, Michaele pivoted into the clinical side of healthcare as a mental health provider. She earned an MA in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT). She began her career as a school-based therapist providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents & families that had experienced trauma. Currently, as Lead Therapist at a behavioral health residential treatment facility, Michaele serves on the leadership team and provides group and individual therapy to veterans with dual diagnosis (substance use and mental health). While completing her master's program, Michaele also founded Kell’s Well to help women of color prioritize wellness by using daily self-care as a tool to prevent avoidable illness due to chronic stress. She consults organizations on how to embed wellness into their practices, policies, and procedures to increase employee well-being. As a knowledgeable leader, resource, and champion for equitable healthcare, Michaele is committed to challenging status quo and prioritizing people. In each capacity, Michaele is committed to providing a warm environment, where acceptance, compassion, and support are abundant. Fun facts: Michaele's personal favorite forms of self-care include embarking on new adventures & discovering hidden gems through travel, sampling multiple dishes at cute restaurants with friends, and embracing the beauty of nature by taking photos, reading, and basking in the sun.
