The World Scholars Program is a reputable, globally integrated academic program at the University of Delaware. Its mission is to encourage cultural exchanges and foster growth so students can become "global citizens".As a World Scholar, you study abroad twice, with the second study abroad including an internship, or research or volunteering project. For my first study abroad, I went to Rome, Italy for a semester (4 months). In Italy, I studied at John Cabot University, a partner university known for its academic rigor, small class sizes, and active learning outside of the classroom. I also took part in other activities to enrich myself in Italian culture, such as taking a cooking class, learning some Italian, and taking a history class focused on Rome's history and its monuments. For my second study abroad, I plan on studying in Australia and then interning in Hong Kong, Singapore, or New Zealand. In between both study abroad trips, students live in the Internation House at UD, where they will build strong connections with international students and other world scholars.Besides these key experiences, the World Scholars Program also helps students build connections with alumni, global employers, and encourage greater involvement in community service, cultural exchange programs, etc..

As a Net Captain, I am in charge of planning and leading events for the residents on my floor. These events are supposed to bring students together, spark new friendships, and create a community feeling on campus. I also am a role model for the other students on my floor and am responsible for submitting events that students would want to partake in. These proposals are then reviewed by the University and granted a stipend for items needed for the events, such as food or supplies. As a Net Captain in one of the honors dorms, I cohesively worked with the net captains on other floors to lead the planning of larger events, creating a stronger community feeling. One of these events included an Earth day gathering which was organized for approximately 500 residents. Currently, I am a Net Captain in the International House here at the University of Delaware. In this leadership role, I am using my experience from previous positions I have held in order to bring the Living and Learning community together. One goal of the International House and my position is to create a welcoming and upbeat environment for International students so they can connect more with other World Scholars and students.

The Hens of Wall Street is a club at UD which actively brings in employers, alumni, and speakers to talk about their experience and connect with students. As treasurer, I manage and monitor the funds for the club. For future events, I plan the allocation of funds to purchase anything we might need such as catering orders. If bigger field trips are planned, I will also budget and help plan the monetary side of the trip.

The American Host Partner Program is a program run by the Institute of Global Studies here at UD: American Hosts are current UD undergraduate students who are passionate about welcoming an English Language Institute student to the UD campus and community. The goal of the program is to create a space for domestic and international students to engage in meaningful conversations and to learn about different languages and cultures.As a partner/host in this program, I met with an ELI student to exchange cultural values, experiences, etc.. I completed projects with the ELI student to help show the Institute of Global Studies and others the friendly exchange that takes place and all that is learned from the program. I helped the ELI student with whatever they needed, helping them take advantage of opportunities and feel more at home here at the University of Delaware.
