Primary Role: Primary DBA for Microsoft SQL Server. Secondary on DB2 LUW.Responsible for the integrity, availability, technical maintenance and performance of ERIE's database management systems.• Maintains and applies an extensive knowledge of all software, operating systems and procedures, and applicable programming languages related to database management systems.• Plan, document, install, troubleshoot and maintains database management system software and related upgrades.• Works with the senior staff to plan, document, and implement new database management systems, software, tools, and release upgrades. Conducts product reviews and ensures compatibility with ERIE systems and standards.• Monitors, adjusts, and forecasts the effectiveness, performance and availability of database systems operation and recommends and leads implementation of improvements for database systems and user applications.• Participates in the evaluation, testing and selection of new software developed by programmers or received from external software vendors. Implements database requirements.• Plans, documents, implements and maintains all procedures for back-up and recovery of database management systems.• Participates in the development and enforcement of standards and guidelines for efficient usage of database management systems and user access procedures.• Participates with internal change management and configuration management procedures.• Works closely with IT personnel to ensure compatibility of ERIE’s database systems and multiple operating systems and hardware. Plans and implements changes to database systems as required. Provides support regarding database concepts, features, and usage.• Implements, plans, and reviews maintenance of security and auditing functions.

Assists in the technical administration of database management systems including software implementation, performance monitoring and tuning, backup and recovery, and technical support.

• Lead database construction and data architecture for all proprietary systems and applications.• Manage and mentor database developers.• Design and maintain relational database models for all proprietary systems and applications.• Develop and tune advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, views and functions.• Provide roadmaps for implementation of relevant technological advancements.• Provide technical analysis and guidance to web developers and non-technical coworkers.• Oversee planning and execution of SQL Server 2005 upgrades.

• Own and maintain integrity of all company databases.• Devise and document company disaster recovery plans for data storage.• Oversee implementation of physical and logical backups on all company SQL Servers.• Performance monitoring, alerting, and tuning of database servers.• Manage security access and schemas for company databases.• Develop DTS and SSIS packages for proprietary data transformation and system maintenance.• Troubleshoot database issues and provide technical support within and outside of department.• Upgrade and maintain data warehouse functionality. • Maintain proprietary IVR application data.• Develop advanced queries for statistical reporting.
