His passion and commitment to education comes from his experience as a classroom teacher in one of the largest public school districts in the country. As an elementary teacher, he tailored educational experiences for more than 200 students with varying educational needs. In his role as an elementary team leader, Mr. Fassbach trained and mentored first-year teachers and was elected to represent other teachers in a joint organization between the school district and the education association.In his current role as Senior Study Director, Mr. Fassbach provides training, professional development, and individualized support to state and urban district education agency staff and to private school organization leaders on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), the gold standard of U.S. student assessment. He also works to promote understanding of the NAEP program and the importance of school and student participation; examples include presenting at national education conferences, developing reports, and creating recruitment documents highlighting the value of school participation. Mr. Fassbach also supports state education agencies in international assessments and studies including the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) and the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA).Mr. Fassbach maintains his school administration and teaching certifications, which allows him to stay current in best practices in teaching and leadership.
