About Michael Barbier

In my career, I have solved many problems in a variety of different contexts and am able to transfer learnings from one area to another. My work experience in Public Works, Management Consulting, and the start-up world has allowed me to become more agile and innovative. I agree with Clayton Christensen that, "Innovative breakthroughs often happen at the intersection of diverse disciplines and fields" (Innovator's DNA, 2011). Who I am:As an individual, I am a pragmatic analytical problem solver who takes pride in applying common sense before elaborate formulas. I balance inter-dependencies, idiosyncrasies, and political realities to formulate real world solutions. As an teammate, I am reliable, supportive, and collaborative. I know my role within the team and not only make sure that I deliver on my portion, but that collectively we are achieving the end result. We ultimately succeed or fail as a team.As a leader, I work to understand multiple points of view in order to holistically understand the issue at hand and get everyone on the same page. I focus on communication and organization to effectively manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines & budgets. At the end of the day, I am willing to take responsibility for the process as well as the outcome from my team's work.
