Currently, I am involved in the development, management, and analysis of comparative bacterial genomics projects at the Broad Institute, including those funded by the NIAID-funded Genome Sequencing Center for Infectious Diseases. Current projects include the sequencing of ~100 E. coli commensal isolates to better understand the evolution of antibiotic resistance and virulence and of 40 isolates of the MRSA USA200 clone to determine the factors involved with epidemic spread of resistant organisms. Previous work has included analysis of the microbiome as part of the Human Microbiome Project consortium.
