Working in the Conservation department, used various photographic techniques including RTI, photomicrography and multi-spectral imaging (Infrared and Ultraviolet) to document and examine a number of artifact types, such as sculptures, paintings, ceramics and metals.

For my Masters thesis, I developed a protocol for 3D imaging of underwater shipwrecks using digital photogrammetry. This technique greatly reduces the dive time required to record underwater environments by producing a digital 3D photogrammetric model that can be examined and analyzed in the lab. Working with Parks Canada Underwater Archaeology Service, I built a digital 3D model of the HMS Investigator (search vessel for the Franklin expedition in the Canadian arctic) and the Mark 1 (small shipwreck in Lake Ontario). I have utilized the same technique on other shipwrecks, including the HMS St. Lawrence and Swedish warship The Mars.

Conducted tutorials and graded student performance for second-year Classics students and was nominated for the Christopher Knapper Award for Excellence in Teaching, Queen’s University AMS Teaching Awards Committee.

Working under Dr. Glenn J. Corbett and Dr. George Bevan, created a website and, through photography and photogrammetry, documented the Wadi Hafir Petroglyph Survey in 2012 and processed data into 3-D photogrammetric models through 2013.

Working with Kenneth Lister, Assistant Curator of Anthropology and Heidi Sobol, Senior Paintings Conservator, used infrared reflectography to examine the paint layers of 100 Paul Kane paintings in the ROM’s collection to compare with the artist’s original sketches in preparation for the April 2014 exhibit Paul Kane: Truth and Mysteries. Initiated, directed and produced a short documentary about the project (http://www.rom.on.ca/en/collections-research/research/world-culture/paul-kane-truth-and-mysteries).

Working under Dr. M. Barbara Reeves, responsible for all scientific photography during the 2012 excavation at Humayma in Jordon. Used Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) and photogrammetry to catalogue artifacts.
