Phoenix Athletic Club - Georgia Pacific Center

I help provide health and wellness based programming for the members of the Phoenix Athletic Club. I also am gaining experience in the various areas of corporate fitness facility administrative tasks, operation, and customer service. Our facility serves approximately 800 members including employees of the Georgia Pacific corporate office and other offices within the Georgia Pacific center in downtown Atlanta, GA. Club membership is also open to the general public.

Assisted in multiple health and wellness nutrition seminars, conventions, and presentations. Presented lessons on the new food guide pyramid guidelines and the effects of diet and exercise for prevention or treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic disease. Worked with Athens Farmers Market to fill and confirm local chefs and food professionals for weekly cooking demonstrations at market.

From the Fall semester of 2009 to the conclusion of the 2011 academic year, I served in roles of Assistant Business Manager and Executive Business Manager as well as a performing member of UGA's only all-male a cappella group. As the Business Manager, I was responsible for communicating between the group and parties interested in our services. I fully coordinated events and concerts with a variety of patrons on a large range of event size scales. I was also responsible for relaying information to the group of 14-18 members and obtaining commitments from each member and maintaining accountability for attendance and up-front communication.

I have worked as a staff member in the Perfectly Polished Etiquette School affiliated with the Etiquette and Leadership Institute, Incorporated based in Athens, GA for seven years. I served as a high school staff member for four years and transitioned to the role of a collegiate staff member upon entering the University of Georgia. As a collegiate staff member, I have been responsible for facilitating and leading class meetings with a group of other staff members of mixed age and experience. Class instructions include leading and instructing social and professional etiquette lessons and social dance instruction to classes ranging in size of 20-80 students ranging from fifth to eight grade. Collegiate Staff members also serve as small group leaders to facilitate a stronger accountability, mentoring, and informative outlet for younger staff members as well as participating largely in implementation planning and discussion.

Assisted in health and fitness information dissemination, created multiple flyers, fact sheets and ticket templates for fundraising events. Trained in performing gym equipment orientation and education sessions.

Served one summer (2009) as a tribal leadership counselor at the Rock Eagle 4-H center. I was responsible for co-leading a group of 17 college-aged counselors and supervising between 700-1000 kids in our camp group each week for six weeks. In the summer of 2010, I was the sole lead counselor at the Burton 4-H camping center on Tybee Island, GA. In a much smaller atmosphere than Rock Eagle, I had five counselors under my leadership and we worked to together to facilitate a camp for 100-250 campers each week.
