I enjoy physics and I like putting it to use in biological applications. I like people, and I enjoy working with people of varying disciplines and perspectives. I enjoy discussing complex concepts with people of any level of education.I work best in a research and development environment.Today I measure and monitor radioactive contamination in people, both in vivo and in vitro. I also maintain and improve the measurement systems, both physically and in software. Here are a few of my prior accomplishments:- developed and executed procedures to verify and validate the radiation-output and targeting/motion-tracking accuracy of the CyberKnife®: a unique image guided robotic radiosurgery system that treats cancer non-invastively - characterized the high-energy x-ray beam generated by a linear accelerator, in terms of absolute (TG-51) and relative (commissioning) dosimetry,- written and utilized MATLAB scripts that use image analysis techniques to: a) evaluate dosemaps and validate the targeting of a surgical x-ray beam, and b) register images of the retinal surface,- performed Monte Carlo simulation with MCNP to characterize scattered and secondary x-rays that cannot be readily measured in vivo,- modeled the human eye as an ellipsoid, improving treatment planning of an x-ray therapy for macular degeneration,- composed, conducted, and trained others to conduct procedures that characterize and verify low-energy therapeutic x-ray sources, according to AAPM TG-61,- developed application, internet, and database software for radiological, biological, seismic, and acoustic applications.Specialties: Scientific Software/Algorithms Development, Image Analysis, Radiation Dosimetry, Monte Carlo particle transport simulation (MCNP), Medical Devices, Physics, Research and Development (R&D), Ophthalmic Devices, Medical Imaging, Verification & Validation
