Cofounded an agricultural technology based company that is creating a fully automated hydroponic growing system. As CTO and lead developer I design, implement and test prototypes and production systems in Python, C/C++, JavaScript/VUE, Flask and PostgreSQL. Extensive work with collection, processing and visualization of large data sets. Manage a small team of hardware and software engineers using Agile development principles.

Lead technologist for a venture capital firm on over a dozen product and technical due diligence engagements. Projects included evaluation of staff, code quality, best practices adherence, process management as well as gap analysis and scoping of time and investment required for any remediation. My work led to investments totaling over $200M.

Responsible for the delivery of Android, iOS and back end systems that integrated with an isometric exercise device. Worked on prototypes for clinical and professional sports versions of base platform. Oversaw development and QA teams overseas and domestically.

Led product development efforts for healthcare startup. Helped create ProjectZ which is an online, cognitive base therapy service that helps people overcome their sleep disorders. Participated in all facets of product development including extensive interviews with sleep and insomnia experts, requirements definition, creating and coding of proprietary clinical algorithms, user testing and project management.

Helped develop Product and Strategy for successfully taking the company private. Led Video on Demand Product team efforts for worldwide trade shows and investor pitches, which ultimately resulted in spinning DivX, back out as a private entity. Directed, trained and mentored Product Management, Product Marketing and Program Management teams for all Video on Demand products and services.

Responsible for product strategy and development of the entire suite of BitTorrent and uTorrent product lines which service over 180 million customers. Changed overall product development and user interface design processes from internal stakeholder driven to user and metric driven, while at the same time maintaining 40% year over year growth of our user base. Partnered with the Internet Archive to create one of the largest media catalogs in the world with over 1.5 million pieces of content. Developed mobile platform strategy and acquired 10 million users in the first 6 months after product launch. Grew annual revenue by 50% by creating Pro and advertising supported versions of our products.

Created the BitTorrent Consumer Electronics Certification program which enables TV, set top box, NAS and Blu-ray manufactures to add their devices to the BitTorrent ecosystem. Built the program from scratch to shipping product in less than a year on minimal resources.

Led multiple groups within the company including Office of Program Management, Technical Operations, Information Systems, Global Certification, Help Desk and Global Customer Support. Worked with each of the groups on goal setting, planning, budgeting, process development and overall execution metrics. Opened certification and testing centers in Seoul and Shenzhen. Worked with auditors to maintain SOX compliance. In general, moved each of the groups from adhoc processes to operational maturity.

Joined company as employee number 10. Grew with the organization from Engineering Lead to VP of Engineering overseeing 100+ Software Engineers as well as the QA and Program Management teams. My team built the products that allowed us to go public and took us from zero to $90 million in revenue. Directly responsible for the roll out of Agile Methodologies across the organization. Created one of the first Video on Demand Systems and ran one of the largest video sharing sites (Stage6) on the internet. Our software SDK was integrated into over 1.2 billion consumer electronic devices and our desktop suite was downloaded over 1 billion times. Earned Chairman’s Award for successful product delivery.

Wrote 35+ articles for MC Press, including a monthly column on Java for over 2 years.

As the lead Analyst for Student Affairs, performed analysis, design and development for their student appointment scheduling systems as well as various application processing systems and data mining projects.
