Role & Responsibilities: I work within the propulsion team on the integration of Stratos V’s first cryogenic bi-propellant engine, Firebolt. My primary tasks involve integrating the engine and ground systems with the rocket's body, ensuring proper alignment, and developing a flight-compatible feed system to support controlled fuel flow and pressure.Technical Contributions: Collaborate closely on testing and validating the fire-extinguishing systems for safety, and on designing a robust feed system capable of precise fuel delivery for the reusable engine. The system is optimized for DARE’s goal of creating a fully recoverable and reusable rocket.Project Goals: Stratos V aims to demonstrate the feasibility of a reusable student-built rocket, focusing on efficient, repeatable launches and environmental sustainability. As DARE’s first liquid engine rocket, Stratos V targets significant technological milestones, including high-precision dynamic pressure regulation to control fuel flow and maximize engine efficiency.

Developed a Python simulation tool to model spacecraft orbits and attitudes, achieving up to 95% accuracy in simulating the IOSHex satellite’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) parameters.Implemented six primary perturbations (J2, gravity gradient, n-body effects, magnetic torque, solar pressure, and atmospheric drag), optimizing for both accuracy and runtime efficiency to achieve a large reduction in computational time compared to MatLab tools.Utilized NASA’s SPICE kernels to pull precise ephemeris data, supporting detailed orbital analysis with <0.01% positional error for celestial bodies.Enabled batch simulation processing of up to 1,000 scenarios per run, allowing the engineering team to rapidly iterate mission plans and satellite configurations.Enhanced project visualization through 3D orbit animations, helping mission planners interpret key metrics (e.g., altitude, orbital states, Euler angles, quaternions) for informed decision-making.Produced a versatile and efficient tool that bolstered SAB Aerospace's mission planning capabilities, contributing directly to the IOSHex satellite project and earning a recommendation from the supervisor.
