Being an economist isn't always boring. It's about applying economics and analysis to a variety of client questions and problems. I've led projects related to unmanned systems, helping the Navy by recommending a way forward for control systems through the use of economic and technical analysis. I got to know the Navy's personnel systems well and developed a simulation model to help them understand potential gaps or shortfalls in manning on ships over the long-term. I also modified an existing long-term budget model to help the Navy tweak their long-term shipbuilding plan so that they could reach their ship goals while reducing total costs.I'm always looking to learn and improve myself and my analysis abilities. That's why I've moved from Stata to R for statistical analysis software. I've also learned Python, picked up Tableau and PowerBI, and learned SQL. When I'm not working on myself, I'm volunteering. I am currently a Board Member for the Golden Gate Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America. In that capacity, I've taken up running many of the social media accounts for the chapter from YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and the Web Site. I recently added Communications Manager to my duties. In addition, I've helped the chapter understand its members through analysis of the membership data through the creation of visualizations--mostly using Tableau and R.Additionally, I am also a head and assistant coach for boy's competitive soccer (U15, U16, and U17 teams) and for my local high school. In that capacity, I'm working on my communications skills and inspiring youth to analyze themselves and the game to improve themselves and their team. My coaching goal is to help them become good people and teammates, in addition to becoming critical and creative thinkers.
