My career in Project Controls has spanned over 30 years of unique and interesting projects. I have worked in Oil and Gas, Power Generation and Federal contracts with project values ranging up to $900 million. Along the way I have worn many hats, including scheduler, cost analyst, cost engineer, field accountant, subcontract manager and assistant to the project manager. I have also learned many skills such as Primavera P6 for scheduling, Microsoft Access & Excel for use in compiling data, Earned Value Cost systems, forecasting, budget development, and a number of different cost systems. In my life away from work I enjoy doing activities with my wife, such as going to movies or visiting our kids. If there is any time left I’ll do some fishing or hunting or work with my cows, but I especially enjoy watching Texas A&M Football, win or lose.

Reorganized the program schedule to a WBS level, and resource loaded activities with approved budgets. Created a database to combine schedule data from Primavera P6 and cost data from SAP (BW reports). This system was used to produce reports for monthly accruals, forecasts, cash flows and budget variance analysis and other ad hoc reports. Created an earned value reporting system and a cost tracking system. Presented financial spreadsheets and forecast reports in the monthly financial meetings. Worked with Marathon’s engineering and accounting teams to ensure that monthly and quarterly forecasts and monthly accruals were correct. Supported development and adjustments of yearly capital and expense budgets. Provided mentoring and training to Marathon Oil’s junior project control personnel.

Led the monthly forecasting effort, which required working with project managers and accounting staff, to produce monthly forecast/variance reports. Worked change order management within the CMiC cost/accounting system. Created/provided cost reports and cost data to project managers. Created a variance report system to speed up the forecasting process. Provided scheduling services to the projects, including resource management through resource leveling, cost management and billings. Provided schedule impact analysis through "What if" scenarios. Worked on bid schedules when needed. -
