Augmented / Virtual Reality Research Software Engineer

Bothell, Wa, Us

Worked closely with my partner, Shen Li, to constructed a networking prototype (Unity, C#, Photon) that uses synchronized game rooms to allow many AR/VR devices (Rift, Vive, HoloLens, and Kinect) to collaborate in a virtual representation of a physical space created by HoloLens’ room scanning functionality. Implemented TCP connection setup through remote procedure calls, removing the need for hard-coded IP addresses. Troubleshot network latency issues by testing socket connections, allowing HoloLens to share scans of a physical environment.Created a User Guide and five Demo Projects for AR/VR developers, so they can use the prototype and focus on content creation. Co-authored a research paper about the project that was published by the IEEE in June 2017.After my graduation, Shen and future students built upon the project by incorporating Microsoft Azure and Kinect environment scanning to become one of twelve Microsoft Imagine Cup 2017 finalists.
