During this internship I was put in a group with 7 other interns to complete 3 projects over the summer. As the only Electrical Engineering intern in my group I took control of the Instrumentation choices, Electrical Load Calculations, control diagrams and schematics, and any electrical concerns / problem solving. However, my role for this internship grew much more than this to showcase my leadership abilities and teamwork strengths. The first project I automated the process of operation for inefficient fin fans due to plugging; this project introduced myself to the standards of an Instrumentation & Electrical Engineers work in projects and how one must account for redundancy and safety in every project. The second project was adding 3 new wells into an existing underutilized platform; this project in addition to instrumentation and safety concerns, challenged my use of electrical load calculations to account for adding equipment to the existing platform as well as helping out in other aspects of the team such as process calculations, etc. The third project was adding a temporary preheat system to add an additional feed of crude to the VDU during a scheduled turnaround; while building on my previous skills, this project forced myself to encounter a temporary engineered project and how that may differ from a long term solution.

In this internship I get hands on experience, as I go on the Oil Rigs and learn the in's and out's that surround the business. I am specifically working on creating Preventative Maintenance measures for the all the equipment, specially focused on electrical.

I was an assistant for the lab at the testing facility. My job ranges from working with excel sheets, reporting calibrations of machines, to committing tests and working with the samples that are given to the laboratory. In this lab I have measured the psi of concrete and grout as well as done liquid limit tests, specific gravity, and more.
