Throughout my career as an Architect, I have had the good fortune to work with extraordinary firms and individuals on a variety of interesting and challenging projects. My work experience encompasses extensive corporate, entertainment, legal, technology, and institutional projects of all sizes, and my presentation skills and marketing efforts have helped to secure numerous design contracts and win many design competitions. I am a skilled and experienced designer, but my vision is rooted in the practical and the technical. My academic training and early work experience focused on the art of building. I attended IIT as an undergraduate, the most rigorous school of its day located in Chicago, the best city to learn about building. I worked throughout my undergraduate years (nights, weekends, and summers) at a storied roster of firms, including SOM, C.F. Murphy (later, Murphy-Jahn), David Haid, RMJM in London, and the office of Mies van der Rohe. Following that I apprenticed at USC under Alfred Caldwell, the man who (even more than Mies) was responsible for educating two generations of the finest architects practicing in Chicago. Thus I have always approached design from a builderly standpoint with a certain rigor learned early on. Having run my own business as a sole practitioner or with partners, I am also experienced in the business aspect of the profession, as well as the creative.Specialties: In my role as Senior Project Designer, I work directly with the project team and the client to develop and refine the building concept and design. I direct the design staff and oversee the preparation of all related presentations and remain involved throughout the project to ensure that the concept is properly detailed and executed. I am well-versed in the normal complement of office software, as well as being proficient in Autocad and Sketchup. And, I am currently learning Revit!
