I serve as a benefits subject matter expert specializing in strategic analytics and modeling. Routine duties include developing metrics and extracting insights to help facilitate decision-making regarding benefit offerings. I project costs for various benefit changes and connecting changes to impacts on talent attraction and retention, employee productivity and utilization, and organizational financial health and competitiveness. I both respond to surveys and research community survey responses to maintain competitive awareness of our industry and labor market. Our union negotiations typically incorporate my work in modeling costs of proposed changes as well as vetting the administrative feasibility of any changes with our outsourced administrators. My duties also include researching various benefit topics concerning trends and new developments across all aspects of our benefit program including health and welfare plan administration and financing, retirement plan design and factors impacting employee saving behaviors, and leave and absence administration. I also oversee our information management practices to assure appropriate history of the evolution of our benefit program remains intact for future reference. My prior years in employee benefits have provided me a broad platform of experience, including the following areas: Supporting audit activities, customer service monitoring, account structure management, regulatory and system testing, legal issue support, union negotiations, health insurance rate development, retirement savings program cost projections, welfare plan administration (e.g., short-term and long-term disability benefits, leave sharing arrangements), absence management (e.g., family, medical (job-related and not), military, personal), and regulatory provisions governed by the FMLA, ADA, USERRA, state workers' compensation procedures, and state leave laws (e.g., California).
