I held several titles at Gracenote, culminating in Director of Strategy. In this role I helped advance areas of long-term strategic interest to evolve the company's Digital Music and Video product portfolio.Customers included Apple, Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, Sony & Spotify. As an advocate for innovation, I helped the company modernize their API and developer platform. This role also involved M&A, Internationalization and IP generation. I helped maintain the Global Media Database, the world’s largest database of music information. My work focused on improving international metadata through a combination of ethnomusicological training and technology-driven process improvements. In addition to metadata curation, I helped design and build systems to derive additional value from descriptor data, including the first automated album release type classifier, a heuristics-based language guesser, and rule sets for programmatic database record merging. Additional duties included developing training materials, presentations, controlled vocabularies, database mapping tables and process documentation.

To gain more hands-on product development experience, I designed and created FreeStagePlots, a web app that helped musicians easily generate professional stage plots. With zero advertising, the site helped create over 35,000 plots in its first year. I oversaw all aspects of development, including PRDs, IxD, wireframes, researching JavaScript API calls, contractor staffing, customer support and project management.

As one of the only non-engineers on this mobile metadata-sharing startup, I translated the needs of users into actionable items for developers. Additional responsibilities included operations, creation of an Atlassian Confluence wiki, beta testing, market research, product development, UGC marketing and web page authoring.

Responsible for the conceptualization, planning, and production of two symposia investigating research in brainwave entrainment and music. I helped bring together participants from a wide range of countries and academic disciplines including neuroscience, ethnomusicology, education and health care.

Active in nearly every aspect of this world music booking agency, I progressed from an unpaid intern to sales representative responsible for 40 states. Additional duties included conference staffing, contracting, tour logistics, visa applications, graphic design, content creation, copy editing, technical support and creative development of new artists and venues. I oversaw the implementation of new digital promotional materials and a custom online calendaring system.
