Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve is a 1,038-acre urban nature preserve located in Birmingham, Alabama. We are one of the largest privately held urban nature preserves in the United States. Formerly home to a mining operation feeding raw materials to Schloss furnace, and several rock quarries, Ruffner was established as a green space in the mid 70's.

Working to ensure property rights, free markets, freedom of contract, consumer choice, job creation within small and medium sized businesses, access to capital, support of the US Military and its energy needs on those bases and facilities located in the state of Alabama and finally, solar's role in increasing homeland and national security.
