Looking back I wondered why some years when the season was over, everyone seemed to be happy it was done, and in others teammates, including my self, all seemed to be disappointed that it was the last game. I started to realize the difference was not just wins and loses but a reflection of the coach and their ability or lack of ability to lead. This observation led me into the business world with one goal in mind to be a leader, not just a manager. I live by the statement: "People follow leaders into battle, not managers." Great leadership allows every individual to reach their potential and in many cases surpass even their own expectations,. Allowing every person to feel success, accomplishment, and inclusion is my goal. This is a win-win for the sales team, as well as the overall company. Leadership is an art not a science. Reviewing the many teams, coaches, plus past managers, I have pulled out eight consistent actions, that in my opinion, differentiated the leaders from just the coaches and managers.
