Helped guide an already strong show through a tumultuous time in TV news. We did some outstanding breaking news. Boosted the ratings by 14%. We doubled down on original, smart and engaging storytelling, upped our social media presence and the viewers responded. I'm proud to have worked with such a small, fiesty and talented team of journalists. I'm better for it.

Over the past four years have been responsible for re-launching CBC News Vancouver as a local news station. Have been at the centre of a massive push to reorganize our newsgathering and production resources to respond to breaking news and deliver solid nightly newscasts. Have moved from a distant third to number two in the highly competitive local market.

Back home and ready to tackle the broadcast world again. Did assortment of producing gigs. Lots of work in the field. Produced week-long special for Newsworld and with a renewed interest and focus on local news at CBC began launching satellite programs to try to generate viewers for the flagship Six o'clock News. Launched promotional newsbreaks, Noon newscast and 11 evening newscast.

Developed and launched Canucks playoff postgame show. Aired during 2010/2011 playoff runs. During 2011 season grew audience from 100k to 750k.

Fulfilled a lifelong dream to toss it all and travel with only a backpack and my wits. Spent the year in Southeast Asia and India. Visited Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and three months in India. Good for the soul. Read tons of books, discovering the brilliance of Tolstoy for the first time. It changed my life and perspective for the better.

Feeling like I had come a long way as a producer but not far enough as a journalist I decided that I needed to take some time to learn the craft from the field. Was worried that I was writing and vetting other people's scripts without appreciating what they were going through. Spent this time reporting news and current affairs stories on air. Was very shaky in the early going doing Live news. Taught me humility and to appreciate how amazing some of these people are.

Headed west to Vancouver for the startup of Canada Now with Ian Hanomansing. Wrote, edited and took to air hundreds of newscasts. Along the way did a number of Live breaking news specials including the Quebec Riots and Ontario Blackouts. There's no better feeling than throwing the lineup out the window and going with what comes next. And no better anchor to do it with.

Fresh out of J-school I walked into Newsworld in Halifax where the Morning Show was being produced. Said I'd do anything and proceeded to run scripts up and down three flights of stairs for the next six months. Quickly moved into a writing job and then into the control room to produce the hourly broadcasts. After three years, moved to Toronto doing much the same thing. Produced many hours of Live newscasts. Met some incredible people and thoroughly enjoyed my formative years.
