Following a successful career in health care leadership where Michael served as executive director (Hospital President) of New York’s 2nd largest hospital at Northwell Health’s Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center. Passionate about sharing lessons to support leaders create extraordinary experiences for their team members he founded and created Walkalongside Leader, Inc. Michael provided strategic oversight and led day-to-day operations of the hospital’s $1 Billion annual operating budget, 583 beds, 6,500 employees and 4,000 physicians. Working with the leadership team at LIJ, Michael drove clinical and operational improvement initiatives to ensure appropriate, safe, efficient, and innovative care to its patients leading to many millions of instances of care to New Yorkers at nationally recognized best in class programs. Building on over 2 decades of experience, Michael helps executives strengthen culture at their companies by sharing what it means to be a Walkalongside Leader resulting in improved business outcomes. As executive director, Michael focused on elevating experience through operations, quality, finance, as well as patient and employee satisfaction. He served in progressive administrative roles, including managing the hospital’s operational performance as the chief financial officer.Leveraging his inside view into the inner workings of the U.S. Healthcare system’s inability to accommodate the growing need for available, affordable, effective mental health care, Michael joined the board as a member at Counslr Inc. Counslr is disrupting the way mental health support is accessed by providing 24/7 text based mental health support to the traditionally unreachable. Michael is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Additionally, with a passion for influences the future generation of health care leaders, and sharing valuable lessons, he is an adjunct professor at Dartmouth College’s Health Services’ MHA program and Hofstra University's School of Health Sciences, where he teaches graduate-level students.As an active philanthropist, Michael extends his contributions to the community by supporting causes important to him locally and globally by contributing through financial and personal time commitments. Michael received his Master of Health Care Delivery Science as part of the 2013 inaugural class from Dartmouth College. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA in Finance from Hofstra's Frank G. Zarb School of Business.
