As a senior-level leader within higher education administration, I’ve had the opportunity to transform institutional practices at Tulane University in roles that have included Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of Students, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, Associate Provost, and Assistant Provost. Concurrent with an 18-year career practicing law, I segued into academia more than 30 years ago as an instructor at Tulane. My passion for higher education has been fueled by a pursuit of excellence: in high-impact practices that complement innovative and critical thinking and teaching and in shaping today’s educators and tomorrow’s leaders. I’ve earned a time-tested reputation for effectively leveraging talent and organizational capabilities. At the same time, my background reflects success in appropriately addressing numerous challenges (budgetary, Category 5 hurricane, COVID) while, at the same time, navigating during crises in order to ensure optimal outcomes. As an educator and leader, I bring uncompromising ethics to my roles and combine what some describe as visionary leadership with authenticity. I’m known for accurately assessing and defining both problems and opportunities—then empowering teams to develop and implement strategic solutions. Transparency and accountability are often mentioned by many professionals in corporate sectors as well as in private/public and not-for-profit spaces; my record of performance consistently illustrates both qualities.Forward-thinking, my skill set reflects strengths balanced across such characteristics as justice, humanity, temperance, courage, and wisdom. My experience within a variety of senior leadership roles in higher education is complemented by results: moving programs forward on an intellectual basis for accreditation, driving retention, aligning initiatives with University objectives, and ensuring successful opportunities and programs for students, faculty, and staff.
