A lifelong Pittsburgh resident, Michael Marks has over 37 years of experience practicing elder law. Michael Marks founded the firm now known as Marks Elder Law in 1979 and has since worked with his team to provide thousands of people and families the legal representation they need to protect each other and their assets, now and in the future. He holds Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. As principal attorney of his firm, Michael Marks listens to his clients to determine their goals and their needs. This allows him to develop strategies to deal with current problems and anticipate future issues. In addition to preparing estate planning documents such as wills, powers of attorney and trusts; providing strategic elder law, asset protection and cost-of-care planning; and helping families with estates after a loved one has died,he also assists clients with buying and selling real estate, real estate tax assessment appeals and real estate transactions and disputes. His community service includes positions as the past Chair of the Allegheny County Drug and Alcohol Planning Council as well as Co-Chair of the Allegheny County Managed Care Committee. In these roles, he was responsible for the county's implementation of Pennsylvania state behavioral health policies, including planning for the roll-out of the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Health Choices program.
