During my internship I was hired as a part-time information and referral specialist with NC 2-1-1, and later promoted to a full-time position which included planning monthly in-service training's for specialists, community outreach and education about 2-1-1. After 2 years I left to get my Masters in Social Work. After graduating in June, 2015, I came back to 2-1-1 as a part-time specialist.

As a Safe Schools Intern I developed a youth mentor program between high school Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) and college GSAs as mentors. College GSAs provide programming support and guidance to high school GSAs. All program development is based on peer reviewed research combining mentoring best practices, leadership development theory, and queer identity development theory and models taken from community partners in Denver. After developing the program I recruited and trained a cohort of mentors to begin the program in Fall of 2015. I also conducted qualitative research on the success of the mentor training program to prepare mentors.
