About Michael Holt

My first love is helping people communicate. Whether using IT tools,known management best practices, or collaboration techniques I am a person who can give exactly what is needed to help people flourish. Since leaving the military as a Submarine Nuclear Engineer, I gained more than 10 years of experience progressively starting from a Shipping Manager with 200+ direct reports up to the executive levels of Production and Inventory Control eventually crossing over to the world of IT as a Supply Chain Systems manager in order to facilitate the removal of the home grown Enterprise Resource Planning system including Warehouse Management over to a full version of SAP using Manhattan as the WMS for a 300 million dollar company, Rubbermaid Commercial Products.I then left to Sprint eventually becoming Senior Technical Project Manager in networking with over 20 direct reports controlling up to $10m in projects. While there I innovated a full SharePoint Ticket System used by more than 1000 employees on a daily basis. The key here is that my entire work history has instances of innovation filling in process holes for more efficiency. Also at Sprint, I created and managed offshore IT resources in India and Argentina.I am now in the tech startup world as a participant in the 2020 cohort of the NYU Tandon Future Labs with Real Broadcasting Company. I have made the hard decision to put my startup on hiatus while I help someone else change the world with their startup. BTW, I used Azure and AWS for my startup infrastructure.I am known for being a great listener and motivator. I LOVE building things and having ownership. Helping others be successful and proud of their work is my forte. I've been accused of being too "laid back" all the while getting the job done to greater expectations. As Washington said, "Listen, Learn, Help, then Lead." I truly believe that. Everyone has the need to succeed. No one wants to do a bad job, especially in the startup world. Just need to align priorities.

Led the design/modification/implementation of the PkMS Warehouse Management System as purchased from Manhattan Associates. Achieved start-up in 8 months, from global design including multiple other facilities to implementation. Scope of project included the teaching of over 850 associates across multiple sites.• Directed a team of consultants in the WMS replacement project that modified/designed a replacement WMS system from QSSI to the PkMS system from Manhattan Associates. • Interfaced data between multiple systems utilizing an interface data management project including the joining of data from an AS400 database to Excel/Access/Crystal Reports. These newly created exception reports provided metrics as well as data to run the Distribution and Transportation operation. • Frequently prepared and presented metrics to different types of senior staff from those who were technically literate to those who were not technically literate. This project allowed for increasing business cash flow by reducing inventories from over $50,000,000 to $40,000,000. Many teams formed and managed including sales, marketing, finance, distribution, and production planning.• Analyzed and investigated systems for the creation of a previously non-existent inventory supply chain control project plan providing for the cycle counting of all skus on an “ABC” code type basis frequency. Due to none meeting specifications, personally created an Inventory Control Program. Hired and trained a team of 4 personnel to perform the inventory control task function. Authored reports for the tracking of accuracy as well as justification for the inventory control team.• Streamlined processes by creating scripts and programs that were automated throughout the night. Was able to reassign personnel to other tasks because of reduction in “paperwork overload.”• Extensive use of Microsoft Access for presentation of reports and data crunching. This report became known as the “cockpit report” as it showed much other pertinent data such as dollar shipments to make the month, manpower needed on a daily basis, inventory levels, and trailers needing to be unloaded all utilizing SQL into various database systems.• Managed the project of the expansion (tripling in size and capacity) of the distribution center loose carton pick system. Included in the project was the upgrade the software interface to the AS400 ERP system.• 2 yrs. experience sourcing a new WMS from several different vendors. Final decision made on a system from DSCI on the Windows NT platform to which a Capital Appropriation Request was written justifying the new WMS.
