I led the regional staff and over 400 year-round volunteers in developing and implementing goals to grow the impact of OCC in the Pacific Northwest. I collaborated with my team to develop a clear vision and implementation strategy to achieve long-term growth goals. In just under seven years my team had a 65% growth in annual gift collection, 70% growth in year-round volunteer participation, and a 65% growth in active local teams. I empowered people to recruit, select, equip, lead and develop diverse, multi-disciplinary teams of volunteer leaders. I got to do this through frequent coaching conversations, teaching at national and regional conferences, collaborating on national initiatives, developing regional and local events, guiding volunteers on international experiences, and running weekly staff meetings. One of my favorite parts of my job was serving our partners (staff, volunteers, ministry partners, and children around the world) through a variety of seasonal projects. I was a Processing Center Manager in Los Angeles, Denver, and Honolulu which entailed directing warehouse operations with 100 direct reports and 16,000 short term volunteers to process almost a million shoebox gifts. I sat with dedicated pastors and teachers in majority world countries to discuss the challenges in their local community. I loved that each day brought new challenges that required a diverse skill set, collaboration, and flexibility.
After almost a decade of working in a church context, I resigned in order to complete a Master's degree and re-tool for a new career. Fuller provided the opportunity to learn from a diverse group of professors and peers in the areas of Theology, Psychology and Intercultural Studies.
I directed the Student Ministry Department including Jr. High, High School, College, Young Adult, and parental support programs. This included long-term leadership in vision casting, curriculum, counseling, budgeting, and fundraising campaigns. Due to the efforts of my team, the ministry grew from just a handful of students to serving hundreds of students a month. I recruited, trained, and managed volunteers, interns, and full-time staff. This included teaching at weekly youth meetings, experiential events, summer and winter camps, high school and college clubs, and international trips to Mexico and Africa. I assisted in the purchase, design, remodel, and oversite of a building acquisition -the largest expansion project that had been undertaken by the church at that time.

Shadow Mountain’s internship program afforded me the opportunity to plan and lead international evangelism and humanitarian aid trips to various countries including Brazil, Jamaica, Cuba, Mexico, and the Balkan States. This included budgeting, fundraising, and pre/post trip preparations. I organized and taught training seminars/speaking engagements for groups ranging from 10 to 350 people.I provided voluntary counseling services for high school students and more importantly I was able to be present and mentor students during key developmental milestones of their lives.
