Work with AMCA regional committees in North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East to develop advocacy and engagement strategies and tactics that manifest the mission of the association, which is “to advance the knowledge of air systems and uphold industry integrity on behalf of AMCA members worldwide.” Most of this work involves energy efficiency codes, standards, and regulations for fans, dampers, and air curtains. Advocacy arenas include U.S. Department of Energy; ASHRAE; International Standards Organization; International Code Council, and California Energy Commission. A lot of my work includes education by teaming with AMCA members and staff on webinars, peer-reviewed papers, and trade publication articles, Internally, I manage and mentor a talented and devoted team that staffs the AMCA Standards and Publications; Advocacy; and Industry Content departments.

Retain responsibilities as Director (below), plus:1. Oversee the evolution of AMCA International's esteemed library of engineering standards, application guides, and other publications, thereby integrating all of AMCA International's content and content development infrastructure.2. Extend AMCA International's scope of codes and standards awareness and advocacy to the state level in the United States.3. Lead AMCA International's global branding and communications for trade shows, expos, and seminars (except for the Asia region).

AMCA International is a not-for-profit international association representing over 300 member companies in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. AMCA members manufacture air-system products, including fans, louvers, dampers, air-monitoring stations, and, acoustic attenuators for industrial, commercial, and residential markets. For AMCA International, I:Lead the development and advocacy of AMCA positions (gained through member consensus) on energy efficiency and green construction codes, standards, and regulations pertaining to air systems in commercial and industrial applications.Lead the development of air-system education, training, outreach programs, and publications for manufacturers, engineers, contractors, building owners, and commissioning providers. This includes the magazine, AMCA inmotion magazine, which is published annually as a supplement to ASHRAE Journal. I also led the concept and content development of a white paper library targeting consulting engineers. The library was launched in January 2015 and currently has six publications and more under development. The white papers are the foundation to an emerging Lunch and Learn tool kit for AMCA members.Represent AMCA and its members in the U.S. Dept. of Energy's initiative to develop a federal fan efficiency standard for commercial and industrial fans.Represent AMCA and its members as a voting member of the ASHRAE SSPC 90.1 Mechanical Subcommittee, for the continuous maintenance of ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings.Represent AMCA and its members on International Energy Conservation Code and International Green Construction Code change proposals and hearings.

Research and develop instructional and advisory content for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire-protection engineers ranging from novice to expert levels of experience.Plan and execute new-product development projects, working with editorial, marketing, sales, and specialty teams.Provide public-speaking services when invited for public and private events ranging from local dinners to national meetings and conferences.Provide data processing and analysis of online media performance.Recruit authors and technical reviewers for bylined cotent. Similarly, recruit speakers for Webcasts, and public speakers for events.

Editor-in-Chief of HPAC Engineering magazine. In addition to routine chief-editor responsibilities for leading development and execution of editorial content, led the devevlopment of its Website, www.hpac.com, which launched in 1997. Led the initial development of the Engineering Green Buildings conference and expo. Led team development of HPAC's first newsletter, HPAC Fast Track. Left HPAC in 2005 for PECI, a non-profit engineering and technical services firm in Portland, Ore., for 7 months, returning to HPAC for another year.

Managed the strategic planning, business development, day-to-day operations, and marketing/communications projects of the Building Commissioning Association (BCA) staff (all of us were PECI staff contracted to the BCA). Established the online career board as a revenue generator and the BCA Newsflash "member alert" newsletter.

During what turned out to be a 7-month sabattacol from being a chief editor with HPAC Engineering, the Building Commissioning Assoc.(www.bcxa.org), contracted PECI to staff the association, with yours being the executive director. As the BCA executive director, I helped launch the BCA Newsflash newsletter, a revenue-generating Website job board, and establish an overall higher level of Association communications and performance.Also, while at PECI, I helped launch an energy efficiency rebate program involving boiler tune-ups and retrocommisisoning for commercial buildings for the Oregon Energy Trust. This included the establishment of program guidelines and procedures, recruiting contractors, and recruiting owners/participants. I left PECI before the programs launched, so real credit for success goes to the PECI team that took over.

Managed externally funded projects for the Information Technologies and Building Technology Departments pertaining to building, environmental, and information sciences, including one of the buildings industry’s first research projects on the benefits of green buildings. Also led the development of a radon-resistant building code for federal residential buildings for the Federal Residential Building Code.Worked with a team to champion the use of the World Wide Web (it was new back then) and multimedia technology. Produced several technical videos for the Laboratory, including one on how to inspect homes for Model Energy Code compliance.
