Founded in 1973, Transportation Alternatives works with volunteers, elected officials, local businesses and community groups to make New York City’s neighborhood streets safer and expand the scope of transportation choices for all New Yorkers.

Served, in order, as Chair of the Events Committee, Chair of the Communications Committee and Board Member At Large. Out Astoria organizes the LGBT community in Astoria and Long Island City, providing its members with a way to get to know each other and support the local community. The organization was founded in 2006 and began as an informal dinner group for LGBT locals. It has since expanded into one of the largest LGBT organizations in Queens.
