Michael has been writing since 1995, when his short story “Magic Balls” was rejected from The Lion’s Tales, Roaring Brook Elementary School’s literary magazine. He was one of 8 writers out of a pool of 2,500 chosen to participate in the 2019-2020 Warner Brothers Writers’ Workshop, and was also a Humanitas’ New Voices finalist in 2018. His subversive, genre-bending scripts have been recognized by the Austin Film Festival, Cinestory, and the Page International Screenwriting Awards.As an educator, Michael has worked as a tutor and admissions consultant for over fifteen years, and has shepherded hundreds of kids from a wide range of backgrounds through the college admissions process into top-tier schools including Harvard, Yale, Berkeley, Washington University, Georgetown, and USC.
