Part time role working with the amazing team. Diverse role including optical laser cavity constitutions and testing; electronic assembly construction, testing and repair; and external cavity diode laser design.

As project leader I am responsible for the formulation and delivery of key research outcomes in the field of optical plasmons. I provide hands on and prompt response to equipment issues and maintain an up to date knowledge of all new equipment purchases. I specialise in nano plasmonic spectroscopy, optical microscopy and laser scanning microscopy.• Provide specialised training on lasers and OES equipment operation and alignment• Theoretical modelling of micro- and nano-optical systems including quadrupole. • Theoretical model and fabricate plasmonic optical devices. • Provide technical experience to the acquisition of optical and electrical equipment.• Regularly present conference papers and publish journal articles. • Liaise and maintain an excellent rapport with suppliers and manufactures. • Develop complex, specialised optical apparatus.• Mentor undergraduate and postgraduate research students.

I provided expertise in the use of optical techniques for the precision characterisation of solar cell devices with an industry partner. I specialised in optical absorption and emission spectroscopy, precision laser cutting and optical imaging.• Used AA and MS equipment to assess semiconductor nano-particle materials. • Worked to a stringent time line and within budget constraints.• Produced technical reports and gave recommendations to the industry partner.• Maintained the confidentiality and intellectual property of the industry partner.

I pioneered the design and built a new spectroscopic apparatus, the confocal infra-red time correlated single photon counting emission spectrometer. This world first OES allowed for the study infrared fluorescence emission processes of micron scale samples.• Regularly used a scanning electron microscope. • Developed of an infrared time-correlated single photon counting system.• Designed a confocal imaging system to measure fluorescence lifetime.• Theoretical modelled optical effects within polymer optical devices.
