Raised $160M over two years led by Ecor1 and Pfizer Ventures with Orbimed, Colt Ventures, Vida Ventures, MPM, Osage University Partners, Sanofi Ventures, Tekla, and Superstring.• Led the effort to secure a $3.2M Award from the CF Foundation. Direct lead quarterly meetings/deck preparations with the CF Foundation to provide program updates.• Experienced in business development with external partners, led four strategic evaluations that resulted in a binding term sheet as part of ReCode 1.0. Supported planning efforts in strategy, competitive intelligence, and landscape analysis using GlobalData and BioSciDB databases.• Cultivated a deep network of sell-side, buy-side, and strategic contacts.• Hands-on experience in patenting technology/working with university tech transfer offices tolicense the technology.• Responsible for generating pitch-decks and establishing data rooms to support due diligence.Research & Development Activities:• As Vice President of R&D, I directly oversee a cross-functional, multidisciplinary team consisting of 10 FTEs, including Principal Scientists, Senior Scientists, Research Associates, that spans discovery and development programs. The total R&D headcount across our organization is 38 FTEs.• A key member of the R&D leadership team tasked with planning, budgeting, project management of 3 therapeutic programs, and several early discovery projects.

Prior responsibilities as Director of Biology included managing cross-functional teams to facilitate the preclinical development of our novel tRNA/mRNA LNP drug products. These key activities included designing and executing in vitro and in vivo pharmacology assays, DS and DP synthesis (CMC), bioanalytical methods to support PK and IND-enabling studies, and CRO engagement and oversight.

Dr. Michael J. Torres (PhD), (Senior Consultant) Dr. Torres has over 6 years of experience studying cancer biology under the mentorship of Michael White at UT-Southwestern Medical Center. He completed his PhD work in 2014. His work has resulted in several publications and has presented at various symposia. He currently is applying his efforts towards understanding regulation of a class of mutations called nonsense mutations, with potential broad applicability to many genomic diseases such as Cystic Fibrosis and numerous distinct cancers. His deep research experience and hands-on bench experience makes him an asset to understand the technical side to drug R&D/data interpretation. His close relationship with Key Opinion Leaders in the space of oncology and rare diseases provides a unique perspective to market analysis from the bench perspective. Dr. Torres helps oversee the successful implementation and success of special projects at Alpha BioPharma Advisers, and will be the primary contributor and author of our "Lab Report" launching in 2015. His background and bench research experience unqiuely suit him to be able to identify nuances in early preclinical data that may provide a unique source of alpha for our clients.

Currently studying regulation of nonsense-mediated mRNA decay in the context of disease causing nonsense mutations in Cystic Fibrosis (nmCF), as well as characterizing novel putative NMD suppressors (natural products) as a therapeutic strategy for the treatment of nmCF.Areas of research: Cystic Fibrosis, Nonsense-mediated mRNA Decay Pathway, Compound Validation, Assay Development.

Completed dissertation research in the lab of Dr. Michael White.Used biochemical and genetic approaches to determine novel roles for proteins in cancer. Helped validate therapeutic target in collaboration with Amgen.Areas of Research: DNA-Damage Proteins, Pancreatic, Breast Cancer, Lung Cancer, and Signal Transduction.
