About Michael Lachance

For the past 20+ years, I've been a studio executive, creative producer and story whisperer who's developed some of the most popular franchises in modern animation and family entertainment. My favorite thing in the world is helping filmmakers and showrunners develop original ideas and established properties into successful shows and films that audiences around the world will love. Currently I'm Senior Vice President of Development at WildBrain, developing both animated features and live action and animated series.Some of the films I developed during my prior experiences as a senior creative executive at DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Animation, and Miramax include: SHREK 2, SHREK THE THIRD, MADAGASCAR, KUNG FU PANDA, SHARK TALE, OVER THE HEDGE, BEE MOVIE, FLUSHED AWAY, MONSTERS VS. ALIENS, HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA, THE SMURFS, and CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2. At DreamWorks, I also conceived the original ideas for KUNG FU PANDA and SHARK TALE, both of which were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. KUNG FU PANDA also launched DreamWorks Animation's third-highest grossing franchise, including three theatrical sequels and three television series.
