Computers have been a mainstay in my life for as long as I can remember. From my dad teaching me to use DOS when I was just 8 years old, to the first Windows XP PC I bought myself when I was in high school, to learning to build my own PC in college. I truly love the darn things.I started my first job in college at a Radio Shack down the street selling various electronics and cell phones. While there I interned at Merchants Insurance Group for about 6 months which is where I got my first taste of real back-end servers and infrastructure. It is safe to say I was hooked after that, I absolutely loved learning about IT infrastructure seeing it solve problems and have a real impact on the business.About 6 months after my internship ended at Merchants a position opened up and I was offered a job there as a customer server representative. I was very fortunate that my excitement for learning more was seen by supervisors as I was given the opportunity to build, test, and deploy a Blackberry server (hey remember those?) not even a year into my time there. The success of that project led to my first promotion and my transition into a systems engineer role.While I have changed companies a few times since I have remained in a systems engineer role. My passion for this work is higher than it has ever been and cannot wait to see where the industry goes.Specialties: Citrix on-prem and cloud deployments, VMware vSphere and Horizon View, Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, and NetApp storage.
