At Hydro One, Michael combined electrical power systems engineering and data analytics to identify and improve the reliability of the company's transformers, distribution stations, and feeder lines. He played a significant role in performing reliability and risk assessment studies to identify risk in the transmission and distribution of Canada's electrical power system. In addition to Hydro One's assets, Michael also had the opportunity to work on projects involving Siemens, General Electric, Ontario Power Generation, and Alectra. During his time at Hydro One, Michael worked on the development of smart meter systems (improved interruption data collection), discussed asset investment plans, and also researched new VACUTAP transformers. By working closely with Reliability and Engineering Equipment, Michael was able to identify new interruption data and significantly improve the accuracy of the asset reliability data.
