I am an editor, writer and director, based in London and Nottingham.My upcoming short drama ‘The Walk’ was awarded BFI Network funding and is produced by Griffin Pictures Ltd. Starring BAFTA-winning Adeel Akhtar and written by Sophie Ellerby, it tells the story of Amar, who, after his local bus route is cut, must walk a 24-mile round trip to and from his nearest JobCentre to avoid his benefits being cut. Is this a pilgrimage or purgatory? 'The Walk' was nominated for Best Short Film at the 2023 BFI London Film Festival. In 2021, I was accepted on to the BFI NETWORK X Film Hub Midlands Short Film Development Programme to develop my short dark-comedy ‘Dancing With Tears in My Eyes’, which is about alcoholism in your mid-20’s. Fascinated by perspective, my projects often follow ill-fated, pained characters who may normally go unseen, who I aim to frame in a powerfully cinematic way in an attempt to see the world from their unique point of view. I am currently developing ideas for feature films and series. In addition to filmmaking, I work as an educator in film, across multiple settings and contexts. PGCE-qualified, I take exceptional pride in my teaching, understanding it to be an extremely effective way to make film theory and practice more accessible.
