After finishing his apprenticeship, Michael began working for himself as a contract carpenter based in Merimbula, NSW.Aside from the residential and industrial construction projects he was delivering, his honest, committed approach saw him approached to become the preferred contractor for NRMA/CGU insurance assessments and repairs between Moruya and Mallacoota.In 2009 he moved to Canberra, where he successfully made the switch to commercial construction, and begun working as a site supervisor for KPD Joinery at the ANU Colleges of Science project.Michael's landing role was the delivery of a 8 million dollar lab fit out contract in the Biological Sciences Building.This led to him being contracted to Hindmarsh Constructions to complete defects and disability code requirements on the large scale project.In time Michael also worked for ISIS Constructions doing similar work, helping fulfil the O.C. requirements for DEEWR, 10-12 Mort Street in Canberra CBD.

Michael's Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship was completed constructing and renovating low density residential buildings on the NSW Far South Coast over three and a quarter years.He finished his formal studies at TAFE NSW, Cooma Campus in December 2004 with honours and a Recognition of Excellence from the NSW Board of Education. This allowed him to complete his apprenticeship 9 months early.Michael had his NSW Contractors Licence in Carpentry and Joinery and had established his own business before he turned 18.
