Four years in Rwanda to end 2017 as EU ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Union. Experienced in Central Africa post-conflict development. 37 years of experience in the international context, nearly all in European Union external relations. Posted as an EU diplomat in Jordan, Turkey, Israel, Egypt and Syria, and at headquarters as a policy officer/analyst for the Middle East. First-hand knowledge of Arab uprising in Egypt and the civil/military conflict in Syria. Expert in Middle East issues, crisis management, conflict prevention, humanitarian issues, and general political and security analysis in the international sphere. I have addressed numerous conferences on EU and foreign policy issues, participated in track 2 peace and inter-governmental treaty negotiations, and - among my favourite - talked to students as a practitioner, rather than theoretician, on how foreign policy, human rights, defence and commercial interests are inter-linked. Retired from EU in June 2018
