Michael Kalisman, MD holds a medical degree from Hebrew University in Jerusalem Israel. He completed a three year residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in general surgery and a two year residency at the Montefiore and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery. Dr. Kalisman was appointed as a chief resident on his second year of training at the Montefiore and Albert Einstein Hospitals. Following this training, he became a one year Christine Kleinert Fellow at the University of Louisville, Kentucky, where he trained in hand surgery and microsurgery. After completing a fellowship he returned to the attending staff and faculty of the New York St Luke’s-Roosevelt Medical Centers-Columbia University, Beth Israel Medical Center and Cabrini Medical Center all in New York City. Dr. Kalisman became board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery in 1982.Soon after, he was able to share his extensive knowledge of plastic surgery as associate clinical professor of surgery at New York Medical College and assistant clinical professor of surgery at Columbia University in the City of New York.Dr. Kalisman attended New York University Stern School of Business from 1985-1987 and received his MBA degree in finance. Since his graduation from business school, Dr. Kalisman has been involved with community and outreach educational programs at home and aboard. Currently, Dr. Kalisman is serving on National Endowment for Plastic Surgery Board of Governors. In 2003, he was inducted into the prestigious Maliniac Society as a Maliniac fellow at the American Society of Plastic Surgery.Dr. Kalisman has written and presented numerous papers and book chapters on a broad spectrum of subjects in the surgical fields of aesthetic, reconstructive, plastic, hand and microsurgery.
