Fair Go Australia Foundations’ mission is to mentor, support and inspire brighter futures for adults and young people in need within the local community. We provide one on one wellbeing and mentoring programs. Our programs, experiences, events and volunteers engage and enable young men and women, to help them develop stronger self-esteem, personal vision and achievable goals for their lives. We provide our students with experiences and skills to help them develop their gifts and contribute more fully to their community. Our programs, held across South East Queensland, address a broad range of community issues ranging from personal and family safety, to disengagement and unemployment. We use mentoring to create personal empowerment and goal setting which is seen as a key part of reversing the cycle of poverty, substance abuse, domestic violence and unemployment. They run for 8 weeks, 4 weeks or can be held in a single day, depending on the needs of participants. Groups are usually held with 10 participants, 10 volunteer mentors and a facilitator. The Fair Go Australia Foundation only exists to support those who need help and a Fair Go. This can only be done with the help of generous volunteers, partners and sponsors. The School of Recreation is an online platform for recreational sport. We give people easy access to a variety of sports through learning and instruction modules. Our lessons are taught by professionals in their field and are suited to first timers through to experts. We have started with snow skiing and are moving into other recreational sports. Our aim is to inspire and support people to ‘have a go’.

I have had extensive experience over a 26-year career in financial services, payments and payment products particularly in the field of electronic commerce. I have just launched a new venture, School of Recreation. My most recent previous role was Co-Founder and Director of Everyday Hero Pty Ltd, which uses a software as a service model to support the not-for profit industry and the latest e-Commerce payment methods to enable simple and easy collection of supporter funds for online fundraisers. My main areas of strength lie in my ability to maintain strong customer relationships and using a consultative approach, to understand their needs and put together product and service packages that best suit those needs. I have had wide exposure to most aspects of working in and for a small start-up organization, as well as large corporate entities.I have also had an eight-year career with Visa International ultimately running their Electronic Commerce team for Asia Pacific concluding in 2003. This gave me significant exposure to the region, the latest payment technologies at the time and an ability to work at the highest levels within some of the largest financial institutions in the world.

Everyday Hero was developed to assist the not-for-profit (NFP) industry to begin to leverage online technologies and expertise to implement online fundraising campaigns. We also saw a growing movement with individuals wanting to support the causes they most cared about in any forum or activity. Initially a consumer portal was created for NFP’s and consumers to come together. From there we moved to a software as a service (SAAS) model where NFP’s could create their own online fundraising websites and campaigns using our proprietary software, Heroix. This involved selling software licenses for use of the platform to not-for-profits. In October 2011, Everyday Hero was acquired by Blackbaud International, a NASDAQ listed, and global provider of software to the NFP industry.Since its launch, Everyday Hero has become the market leader in online fundraising, supporting hundreds of thousands of ‘Heroes’ to raise over $700 million for NFP’s in Australia, New Zealand, the US and the UK.As a Director, I had shared responsibility to the creation, optimization and enhancement of the Everyday Hero platform. Clearly with my payments background I was participated in negotiating and implementation of our payment acceptance strategies. I began to oversee Customer Service/Relationship Management, where my team would support individual fundraisers with support, through to working with major national charities and event organisers to assist them in implementing and incorporating our software into their campaigns and events. This included use of API’s to ensure as seamless integration as possible between event registration systems and our fundraising software.Some of our most successful implementations included supporting events like the Sydney Morning Herald City2Surf in Sydney, the Run Melbourne and campaigns such as the National Breast Cancer Foundations Pink Ribbon Breakfast and CARE Australia’s Walk in Her Shoes.
