Provided strategic leadership and direction in support of the Division of Housing and Food Service’s (DHFS) vision, mission and core values by leading the Business Services Department within DHFS. DHFS is a self-funded auxiliary division (no state or university funding) of the University of Texas with a 90M operating budget, 14 buildings, 7,300 beds, and 14 food and retail locations. Reporting units included Financial Services; Information Technology; Occupancy Management; Conferences and Events; Marketing; and Administrative Services. Provided strategic counsel to the leadership of DHFS in the area of finance and budget ensuring optimum resource allocation and fiscal strength. Created optimization and efficient operations across all units through process improvement and by maximizing automation. Fostered a culture of collaboration and teamwork with unit managers and staff. Served as liaison with key stakeholders and professional organizations on and off campus, serving on committees to represent the interests of the department and the university.

Developed a business plan around the construction and operational funding necessary to support a significant increase (estimated 3,000 beds) for grad and undergrad on-campus housing. Integrated estimates of construction and financing costs.Analyzed the financial data of various programs and operations to determine their financial status and assess growth potential. Prepared rate structures and long-term forecasting. Identified trends, potential cost reductions, proposed new rate structure, and prepared long-term forecasting.

Managed all aspects of a team to ensure that client’s (fortune 1000 companies in diverse industries) Channel Incentive Programs and Trade Marketing Programs were successfully managed, including: operational excellence and fluidity, client satisfaction, brand integrity, budget management and forecasting, consultation, and up-selling. Responsible for the management of client’s marketing funds in excess of $250M. Assisted clients in evaluating their marketing spend and return on investment.
