Fórsa is a trade union formed on 2nd January 2018 and represents over 80,000 members.Fórsa represents members in the public service, as well as the commercial sector, state agencies, some private companies and in the community and voluntary sector.My main responsibilities in this role include:• Providing industrial relations and collective bargaining services to members in 6 branches spread across 3 divisions. • Identifying, recruiting and mentoring new branch and workplace leaders.• Tutoring for modules of the Fórsa Workplace Representative Training.• Lead official with responsibility for Youth Networks in Fórsa, ICTU and EPSU.

• Development and implementation of organising strategies across 4 Union branches.• Identifying, recruiting and mentoring new branch and workplace leaders.• Ensuring branch and workplace leaders receive adequate training and support.• Recruitment and retention of members in new and existing employments.• Providing advice and representation to members and representatives at local and branch level.• Development of communication strategies and content to ensure we reach a high number of members with relevant, up to date information.

The HEA leads the strategic development of the Irish higher education and research system. The HEA has a statutory responsibility, at central government level, for the effective governance and regulation of higher education institutions and the higher education system.I was appointed to the Board of the HEA by the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton in July 2017.As part of the committee, I sit on the following committees:I. Delegating operational responsibility for the day-to-day running to the Chief Executive Officer and the HEA management team.II. Monitoring of performance – Receiving regular reports from the HEA’s management team and Board sub-committees.III. Advise and support the Chairperson, Chief Executive Officer and management.IV. Ensure financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible.V. Keep itself up to date and fully informed about strategic issues and changes affecting the HEA and the environment in which it operates.VI. Keep under review corporate governance developments that might affect the State body, with the aim of ensuring that the State body’s corporate governance policies and practices continue to be inline with best practice.VII. Ensure that the principles and provisions set out in the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies (and any other corporate governance codes that apply to the State body) are adhered to.

The President of GMIT Students' Union is the Chief Executive and Principal spokesperson for over 7500 Students across 5 campuses in Galway & Mayo. I was elected with over 1300 first preference votes (90%)Some of my duties include:Representing members on a variety of college committees including Governing Body and Academic Council, as well as leading and coordination lobbying (Political etc.) at both a local and national levelAccountable for all finances and associated day to day running costs of GMIT Students Union and joint signatory on all accounts for the company.Responsible for the management and co-ordination of all Students' Union Staff and Executives which at its peak includes 10 full time staff, 12 part time officers and over 200 Class Representatives.Creating relationships with external local and national businesses to improve the commercial aspects of the Union.Handle media relations along with the Communications Manager on various student issues on a local and national level.Create unique campaigns to tackle issues both within and outside of GMIT which are affecting students.Implement different policies and programs approved by the Class Representative Council.Oversee the work of the other elected SU officers, making sure they are hitting targets and working on behalf of the students of GMIT to the best of their ability.
