Research AssistantSeattle Pacific University Jun 2008 - Sep 2008Seattle, Wa, UsAnalyzed the role of several key tyrosine residues on the binding interface between NKG2D (surface receptor on NK cells), and MICA (MHC-like protein expressed on stressed cells) using site directed mutagenesis, expression, and purification of mutant proteins. The theory being that high affinity receptors may have usefulness as future immunotherapies. Binding measurements were collected through surface plasmon resonance and compared to estimates from the protein design software: Rosetta Design. This project was continued by future students resulting in publication in Molecular Immunology -
