Hello there,My name's Michael and I’ve always had a passion for media. My love of film, television, and reading is what made me pursue a career in creative copywriting and problem solving. My interests exposed me to a wave of advertising that I found myself quite enjoying. I can still proudly sing jingles and quote commercials from throughout my life.I have a BA with honours specialization in Media Studies from The University of Western Ontario. Here I took a particular interest in Semiotics – the study of signs and symbols – as a tool to understand the way in which certain images or words could create connections to specific ideas, emotions, or cultural meanings. I used this to breakdown pieces of advertising into their core messages.I followed this up by further developing my writing skills with a scriptwriting certificate from Humber College. At this time I started working with Creative Director, Brian Harrod, on a start-up advertising campaign as the Copywriter. In this role, I participated in client meetings, photoshoots, and recording sessions, while both writing and editing copy. My work included print, OOH, point-of-sale, direct marketing, packaging, and television. This experience lead me to Humber College, once again, for their acclaimed Advertising Copywriting program, which I graduated with Honours. I was known for happily giving constructive feedback upon request and having an accurate record of all our deadlines. I'm now putting my copywriting skills to use on websites, blogs, radio ads, video ads, and social media. I look forward to connecting with you.
