As the Associate Dean Research, Innovation and External Partnerships at Toronto Metropolitan University, I oversee the strategic direction and execution of research initiatives and partnerships across the Faculty of Science. I am also a Full Professor in Physics with over 20 years of teaching and research experience in the field of biomedical ultrasound and optics, where I develop novel imaging and therapy techniques and technologies for various medical applications.My research program has received multiple grants and awards, including the AIMBE College of Fellows and the Joseph H. Holmes Basic Science Pioneer Award, and has resulted in over 150 peer-reviewed publications and several patents. I am also the co-director of the Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Science and Technology (iBEST), a collaborative platform that brings together biomedical engineers and scientists from Toronto Metropolitan University and clinical and basic researchers from St. Michael's Hospital. My mission is to advance scientific knowledge and innovation in biomedical physics and engineering and to foster interdisciplinary and experiential learning opportunities for students and researchers.
