I believe the most productive teams are not so much about having the best people, but having the people who work best together. This is the credo I use while working with my team as the Chief Business Officer at Motivo Engineering and used while managing numerous fine dining restaurants in Napa, CA. It is the skills I have learned from these management positions, as well as my technical education from WWU and the Jim Russell Mechanic Training Program that allow me to work dynamically in all types of different engineering, automotive and product development scenarios.My strengths lie in my ability to lead a team that is working toward a common goal. This includes building a structure that all members can function at the highest level within, creating schedules and databases for accountability and knowledge, and motivating the group to work through problems and look at each challenge with an analytic and data driven mentality, even when the problems exist in newly developing industries. With my technical background, I regularly have in-depth, challenging, high-level conversations with engineers and manufacturers. I am also willing, and able, to step in and "get my hands dirty" when the situation calls for the help. I have an unconventional story for how my current career came about. I decided to go back to school for my bachelor's degree after already having a solid career, but wanting to make a change. Lack of commitment, work ethic, and time management will never be an issue in my life. I was a full-time student that managed a 45 person FSAE team, worked a full-time job, has a wife and two kids at home, and had commuted up to 180 miles a day just to get to school and work, when necessary. I feel that my life experiences and education have given me the drive and knowledge that would make me a valuable asset to any team.
