Profile bio

About Michael Kristensen

The American philosopher and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson is known to have said something along the lines of “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and make a trail.”I landed my first corporate job by taking a chance. It made me see the value of stepping out of your comfort zone, venturing off the beaten path and being open to adapting yourself to new situations. It also became a stepping stone for taking on several roles throughout my career that were all newly defined, meaning I was not stepping into someone else’s path but free to find my own direction and leave my own traces. What I learned about myself as I was making these trails was that I am motivated by a challenge, I rely heavily on my creativity and structure as I approach it, and I have strong perseverance in solving it. I also developed a sense for observing, listening and seeking to understand what is happening in the organisational climate around me and why to bring the most value out of my work.Today, 16 years later, I can bring broad experience working with operational and strategic HR from both development and execution perspectives. I am at my best in an inclusive, international environment where I am part of enabling and challenging leaders, employees and organisations to create a meaningful impact. And I have developed a particular eye for crafting concepts, frameworks, tools and strategies in support of driving culture change, organisational capability building, change management, strategy implementation and employee engagement. While I am always curious to create a new trail, my areas of passion and speciality remain:Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEI) | employee engagement | employee experience | employee branding and value proposition | leadership development | learning | organisational capability building | people development | performance management | people operations | people partnering | strategy implementation | succession planning | talent management and strategy | talent identification and development | wellbeing and resilience | culture change. If you want to know more, I am always happy to connect.
